On the subject of cheap TVs, my Brother-In-Law bought a 24" silver plastic crap Apex in the early 2000s, and was going on about what a good deal he got on it (I think it was on sale and was around $100). I told him, "yeah, and in less than a year, it will go belly up." Well, I had to eat my words because it lasted until about 2012, or so, when it lost vertical sweep. At that time, they were ready for a flat screen and gave me the Apex. All that was wrong was bad solder connections on the vertical output IC and I think I got $25 for it. That was right about the time when CRT sets started becoming worthless to the average person and I was lucky to have been able to sell it.

My great grandma had an Apex tv I think it was 32" big and she got it around 2004. The tv was used until she passed on. The TV was thourn out do to the CRT being very weak in 2018. I saved the her old 79 zenith 9" B/W tv which still works fine and a 9" sears tv from 1968 I need to find a tube for the set.

My grandparents had a 1988(?) vintage Sharp Linytron (a knockoff of the Sony Trinitron perhaps) that the picture was discolored in one corner (looked like someone put a magnet to the screen) and the there was an annoying buzz in the audio that was there no matter what the source was (TV station or VCR) and that TV was bought brand new for them by my uncle, so they hardly ever used it.

But then my grandparents got my great-grandparents (my grandmother's parents) 1980 or so vintage RCA ColorTracK TV which was either a 23" or 25" console TV with a cable compatible tuner (it had a red LED display for the channel readout, a pull-knob for the power/volume control and a 0-9 push-button control panel for direct entry of the channels into the TV Tuner, and that TV had perfect sound and perfect picture compared to the Sharp tv they had and my grandparents used the old RCA TV clear up until they moved out of their old house.

I was never impressed with Sharp TVs and VCRs, I always considered them lower quality products.

I had that same TV in the bedroom until about a year and a half ago. It worked perfectly. I pitched it and put the 27" Toshiba that used to be in the living room in it's place. That Toshiba still has a good picture. It had a couple of bad caps in the power supply but it's all good now!

I have a 14" Sharp Aquos LCD set. The picture is amazing and sound quality is great, considering it's a small screen set.
A good old thrift store find! I understand, it was a pricey set when new.
