Anyone ever clean the tuner of an Andrea TV-K12 before?

So I've got one. The tuner is like a Dumont inductuner, but instead of the tuner tubes and mechanical variable inductor mechanism being on a small sub-chassis connected with 4 screws and 4 wires, the Andrea variable inductor mechanism is mounted directly to the main TV chassis and the tuner tubes are mounted to the main chassis as well. ..So I don't see an easy way to pull the inductor mechanism.

"Why do you want to pull the inductor mechanism?" you ask well to fully remove the shield that allows you to clean the moving spring finger contacts under the coils there are 4 screws near the main chassis that have enough IF cans blocking screwdriver access that I can't see any other way to remove them.

I've gotten it somewhat working by removing the top screws and gently prying the cover open enough to get in but I'd like to do better.
