Installing an NOS 10BP4A, ion trap or not?

Hello, I have a working Crosley 307TA, roughly the same as my RCA 8TS30. The NOS tube I have is a GE black daylight branded 10BP4A. I’ve had the existing CRT out of the set many times and am familiar with aligning its electromagnetic ion trap to get the best picture, however, I get no picture on this new CRT with or without the ion trap. I’m afraid to leave it running very long as I hear you can damage the CRT if the ion trap is not installed correctly. Looking at the neck, the gun looks very different on this new one, it does not have the ion trap flags. The other 10BP4’s have so this leads me to think that this one does not use an ion trap. Would that be possible? Hi attached a picture of the new tube’s gun

10BP4A could mean aluminized. This means no ion trap. Another thing to try is try it without the focus coil. The test picture tubes are like this.
A short run will not damage anything. As long as there is sweep, you are safe. Ion burns take a long time.
When I use my 5 inch test tube, no ion trap and no focus coil.

According to the GE datasheet, the "A" means it has a grey tinted faceplate and is not aluminized. You do need the ion trap magnet.

You can see the gun is bent. It would be dead straight if it was aluminized and did not need a trap. Another check is look at the front around the edge where the phosphor ends. Is the glass transparent or shiny and mirror like?

You're not going to damage it in a few minutes. Turn the brightness up all the way and quicky rotate the magnet all the way around the neck. Soon as you see a glow, slow down, turn the brightness down and find the sweet spot.

Thanks guys, the replies gave me The confidence to play around a bit more. I have a nice bright picture now. On this new picture tube, the proper ion trap location was wildly different than the previous tube, looks like the mystery is solved
