Here's one for Zeno, making a Zenith 9-57-VCR horizontal module from a 9-90-01B
I remember zeno posting about how Zenith built a 9-57-VCR horizontal module for their Chromacolor II TVs so they would work better with VHS decks (no flag waving and such) in the era when Zenith was backing betamax. The module was supposed to be basically a stripped 9-57 with a 9-90 piggybacked onto it. Matt 'Tapes' Steck figured out how to make one (it takes the H-hold coil out of circuit) and posted about it on Facebook. I figured Zeno would like to see, and it might be helpful to others.

TNX Tom but the link dont work. I even joined FB, still no joy.
Keep in mind the mod is for ONLY flat chassii using the 9-57 module They were called Super Chromacolor sets. The factory cure was ordered as a 9-57-VCR. The next chassis is the CC-2 ,the upright chassis that folds down. There was never a factory mod to cure the flagging & I dont remember if they even did it. Mods to those should be easy as the hoz & HV are near identical. Zenith had a nice evolution from the 4 tube hybrids though the 70's making them very easy to deal with. Well I swore I would never join FB but I did ! Looks like its gonna be a B Buster to make use of it ! Wish me well 73 Zeno ![]() LFOD ! |

It's posted under a Facebook group 'Vintage Television Collectors' I bet they've enabled private group settings where Facebook users who are non-members of the vintage television collectors group can't view posts from the group. Look the group up and ask to join and it should become visible once you're approved.
