Can Zenith 9-160-05 be subbed to a 9-160-06?
Hey gang. New member here. I've done a lotta digging around these boards and online the last few weeks (just officially joined VK a few days ago) and am stuck on 1 thing.
I'm currently working on a 1981 Zenith console: Model SS2329P. This is 23 inch set. It's also loaded with the 9-160-05, 9-151-3, 9-152-02 and 9-155-01 modules as printed on the inner chassis sticker. I'm trying to find out if I can sub a 9-160-06 board for the 9-160-05? I don't have access to the old Zenith CSRP - and links to it in a few of the threads here are now dead or just partials + as I understand it, the CSRP contradicts itself on a few key points concerning cross references for the 05 and 06 boards, even suggesting they may be interchangeable (??). From what I've gathered, the 06 is a 30KV module and the 05 is a 25KV but wondering if anyone has ever subbed the 06 for the 05 successfully? I've spoken to a few people in Facebook groups who say "no", and a few elsewhere that say it can be done with a few minor adjustments, but no specifics so far from anyone I can gather as of yet. Currently I have a beautiful NOS 9-160-06, but have had no luck finding an acceptable 9-160-05 and I have checked everywhere under the sun for a suitable 05 board. I'd also just like to get this cleared up once and for all, as I plan to take in a few more of the old System 3 modular units for repair and/or restoration. |

I think I tried this about 10 years ago and created a thread here and it didn't work, then I reflowed a bunch of solder joints on the bad board and it came back to life.
If I can find my copy of the CRSP after I get home I'll try to look it up. Edit I was trying to sub a 03 for an 05 was told 04 is the only sub for 05. Thread here.https://videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=265299
