Virgin media wanted to put my broadband, phone & so called free cable TV up to £149-99 a month. I phoned them up to ask why it had almost doubled in price? He said he didn't know. I said "well if you can't do it cheaper I'll go somewhere else, they have laid a fibre optic cable on my street 3 years ago so I'll go with one of them". As soon as I mentioned 'fibre optic cable' he said "oh, er, I'll see what can do". He offered to up the broadband to 1000 gigs, I told him I'm happy with the 350 I have now, unlimited international calls, no don't do international calls, sports & films on TV. I said "you're wasting my time, put me through to disconnections, I'll go on fibre". He went quiet for a bit then offered £90 a month, I said "no, not cheap enough". Then he came to £77 a month & free Netflix, so I went with that.
Since I've had Netflix I haven't watched any live TV so let the TV licence lapse, had 2 threatening letters that an enforcement officer will visit my house, but no ones turned up so far. Loads of videos on you tube on what to do if they do come knocking....
