DC Restoration

If a 1N65 diode in the DC restoration circuit goes bad, will the pix still exhibit some degree of contrast? Blacks are kinda washed out, etc. but I don't know if I want to go back 'in there' right now; too many other projects. If so, what's a good replacement--any of the little barrell-shaped jobbies at R-S?

Thanks

There will still be some contrast, but correct black level will be gone. Use an NTE or ECG replacement for the 1N65, if you can't find the original.
