Well, that beast gets to follow me home tonight.....if it didn't have the original remote, I likely would have passed on it. But hey, it's just up the road a bit and I got it for $10.

It's a cool looking set... really neat with the remote. Once you get it home, post a better pic of it here.
BTW... I didn't realize Dallas was "just up the road" from Chicago! Do you use a car, or a transporter beam?

hahaha I guess I forgot to change my profile. I've moved back since registering. Chicago was only a temporary thing for me....gawd I don't do cold well!
Okay here's the dirt. Model G3000. Needs a 6dq6 since the cap on the old one came off and is missing. The antenna connections are somewhere inside the set and not attached to the terminals on the back. The plug between the microphone for the remote and the remote receiver is myseriously short 2 inches. Gotta figure that one out. I'll test the other tubes while waiting for a 6dq6. Mostly miniatures plus a big honkin 5u4. The tuner has a neat feature in that it projects the channel number in the center of the tuning knob! Really cool trick. The knob center is gold when off. Need to come up with the four small picture adjustment knobs for it. Has the original price written on the back of it -- 309.95! What was this, 1958? 57? I haven't had time to cross-ref the model number yet. Anticipation........ Mike |
