Still Need Early RCA Knobs
I posted last year about the same thing. Still have no knobs. The pictures are just to give an idea of the era of the set. The thing is RCA used these knobs for a number of years and on many models. Mine is the 8T-243.I know where a whole floor model of similar vintage is for $50, but I would want to fix that up if I had room for it. I have had thoughts of using both sets to hopefully come up with one good one but I have decided that I can't sacrifice sets like I used to be able to. Really it would be stupid today unless one was a basket case. I can remember parting out a bunch of 50's sets back in the 80's and busting up the cabinets for firewood. I had a fasination with old sets back then but they had NO value at the time. When I needed to make some space I would have to bust one up. Usually nothing too special but I did hate getting rid of a 56 Sylvania "Halo-Light" like that.
Anyhow, thanks in advance for any help with the knobs! Last edited by Tubejunke; 02-02-2006 at 11:54 PM. |

RCA Knobs
I bought a bunch of RCA knobs from Craig Roberts a few years back. He may still have some left. There is a pointer to his email on the ETF web site as a source for TV knobs. His email is [email protected]

I have a set of knobs for your set, just need to know if one of the controls has a single 1/4" shaft or they all are dual controls

My set has two dual potentiometers and one single. The channel ID part and fine tuning part are the most important to me as I have none of that. I have the channel changer. I also have the single pot knob and the back part of the other two duals. Just missing the small, brown, outer thumb controls. I may be complicating things by trying to explain all this.
PM me with the details on what I need to do to get these... Thanks!!!! |

Hoorah!

I actually bought a T-100 for a dollar one time because I needed a knob. Then I had a change of heart, couldn't bear to part out a good set, and so I have two T-100s too! Double your pleasure; double your back strain! Let us know how your set behaves once it's fully decked out --Dave |

From your reply I think these are the pieces you need, if so I'll contact you off-list. Chuck

Bingo!! You hit the nail on the head. Thanks so much!! I actually already have the gold trimmed pieces like the one on the upper right in the picture. There should be some kind of fine tuning knob or is the one I just mentioned the fine tuner? It would make sense in order to match the other knobs in appearance.
PM me and we can sort out the details.... Thanks a mill for the effort here as well!! |
