'49 Hoffman

Just found an early Hoffman set with that yellowish screen. Has doors on the front with funky metal hinges and faux keyholes.

Here's a link to a very similar one
http://www.vintagetvsets.com/hoffman.htm (thanx Eric H!)

Mine doesn't have that verical radio dial, but otherwise looks the same. Is fairly crude stylewise, but what the hay, it's an early set.

Below is another pic--the set on the top. Was told that mine has no picture but receives radio(?) sound. Cabinet needs TLC. Paid less than $25 for this jewel.

I have seen that set on Eric H's site. Looks like a nice one. Congrats. Keep us posted on how the restoration goes.

No, those aren't my sets! I swiped that photo off the http://antiqueradios.com site. It belongs to Mark French.

Here's another similar model per the tvhistory site:

Below is a view of it with the doors closed. You can see the silly hardware trim.

Mine is identical to the one in that picture (although the crt bezel looks slightly different), it has doors and the same hardware.

I have another one without the doors but it's so beat it may be a parts set.

Here's another one of these yellow-screen Hoffmans on SF Craigslist. I like this set alot, but there's no way I could drive 400 mi with this sticking out of my trunk, so I don't even know why I'm looking at it. These are unusual and interesting sets, so I thought maybe someone here might want it. It looks like there's a brightener attatched to it though. http://www.craigslist.org/eby/clt/135794235.html
