Picked this up at an antique/junk store this past weekend. It's in fabulous condition

Don't seem to be able to find any information about this model. Made in Great Britain. One of the caps has a May/1958 date on it. Seein's as how it came from the UK, it's wired for 210-250 Volts/50-60Cycles, has a jumper plug for selecting voltages, and I was wondering if there's a simple way to step up the 120VAC I have at the outlet so I don't have to unplug my dryer everytime I want to listen to it?

Looking for a schematic if anyone knows.

You need a 120-230V step-up transformer - 100VA rating should be plenty for this. A 50 VA 115:115 isolation transformer could be wired as an autotransformer as well.

Sure does have that Telefunken look about it doesn't it? The finish is quite spectacular, has a wonderful golden patina, and it's not cigarette smoke

. I'm not going to touch the finish. 4 out of the 6 tubes were burnt, had one on hand, ordered one, and waiting out ebay for the others. Need an EABC80 and an EM81. Might as well re-cap, only has a few. I'll start checking into the step-up transformer, see what I can find. Thanks for the link to the vintage radio forum Tom

Still waiting on a tube delivery from England for that big Telefunken I posted about a month ago, the re-cap is all done, I'll re-post with pictures when I get it going.

6T8 will sub for ABC80 (6aK8). I think EM80 will work for EM81 - different glow pattern tho...

Strange the mounting/location of the ECC85 tube. Are they wired in series?

Fab looking set though! I haven't seen or heard much from the Brits, but it stands to reason they enjoyed radio as well. Hey, John Lennon and the Beatles had to listen to Buddy Holly and Chuck Berry on something, right?

The ECC85 is mounted on top of an aluminum box that conceals what I think is the tuner/variable condenser for the VHF band. The 2 large knobs on the front are separate tuning knobs, each with it's own indicator needle.
The VHF band, which I think is FM, right?, is scaled from 88 to 100 MC/S.
Not really sure, I'm still pretty new at this
