I watched this movie on AMC the other night, and I really noticed all of the computer monitors were ROUNDIES! looked like Conrac monitors, to me. It really is something, seeing old, possible 15 or 19 inch round screen color monitors, in an old computer movie, about computers taking over our defense system.

Intersting idea, to bad the 21FJ yoke will not work at anything but 15K, currents involved to scan it faster require either litz wire or multiple wire windings, would have to modify scan circuits to match yoke inductance both vert and horiz, could be done if you care to do some real kludging and keep the resolution to 640x480 ......
Opps - how will you converge it....

According to the IMDB that movie is from 1970 so the roundies were a bit out of date by then, odd they would use them in a "Futuristic" film.

That's probably why they used 'em-could pick 'em up cheap back in '69 or '70 when they actually made this movie. Who knows ? Maybe the prop guy's brother-in-law ran a TV repair shop & had a bunch of roundies layin' around that he couldn't otherwise get rid of. Or they were "mustered out" from the engineering dept at UCLA, or a gov't agency & ended up in this flick. Doesn't matter-they're there & they look cool.-Sandy G.

I have seen monochrome round computer monitors from the 1970's in books, but never saw a color round computer monitor. Also, yesterday I was thinking about using a computer CRT on a TV. Have a 1974 zenith tube chassis where the CRT got cracked, thought maybe I could use a CGA computer CRT and yoke. The TV chassis has pre-CRT matrixing (R,G,B video and chroma just on the cathodes) so that shouldn't be a problem. I guess yoke impedance would be an issue. Is there a way to change the yoke impedance so it would work with the tube-type h and v outputs?
