Well, let's just say if the dying cap took out an IF can, you have a nice static display piece...'Cause new cans are for all intents & purposes made out of Unobtainium. But most likely, you didn't hurt it. However, DON'T turn it on again until you get it fixed !!

I doubt that an IF (intermediate frequency) transformer would have gotten damaged. I'd worry more about the power transformer.

I'd replace all the electroytic caps, and all the wax paper caps. All are either already bad, or will soon be bad. Suprizingly, vacuum tubes are not at the top of the list of components to be suspected of being bad. Wax caps go bad after 40 or more years of age, used or not. Tubes last forever if not used.
