Not exactly original, but better than trashing the cabinet and leaving the rest for parts!
This Crosley really turned out to be a great working set with only a few caps replaced. The hard part was trying to glue the veneer almost everywhere on the cabinet and then attempting a decent looking refinish job. I had to paint the front Satin Black to hide damage. Luckily, the sides and top were fine, and just needed stain and Satin clear coat.
Not knowing much about these early sets, I still am curious if this a Crosley made tv or was it outsourced?

No Tim, a scrap guy gave the tv to me last week. The story on how I got it is a few threads down. The title is "Crosley 9-403"

Great job as always Captain! The black front actually looks good as it makes the mask and controls pop. Its unbelievable what some people will toss and glad it landed in your hands. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Tony! I usually never take on something in bad cosmetic shape, as I am an originality nut! Something that bad is just parts to me most of the time.
This one being a Crosley, and the age as well as partial working condition made me restore it.
Heck, I even left the added-on tone control and phone jack that the previous owner installed many years ago.
Someone must have really liked this tv to hang on to it until now, they probably passed on and the kids tossed it when cleaning up..

I think that set looks like it is in good condition. Maybe it a low res. camera hiding flaws. The thing looks practically new. Also I love it when someone finds a set that works with MOST of the original components such as capacitors. To some of us this is a ticking time bomb. I think its all relative to how often you plan on using a set as far as a total paper/electrolytic re-cap. I must admit that I am itching to do just one total recap. I think it would be cool to have a set that could play all day long without having to be closely guarded.

Looks like a great mix-'n-match opportunity. Contact the seller if that one doesn't sell, get it cheap. Swap your chassis into the good cabinet, swap the other chassis into your cabinet, and peddle that one as-is on eBay.

Cool looking TV, either way.

Looks like the CRT in the eBay is really cactus or the thing collapsed into many pieces.

I talked to the seller of the set, he appeared to be a bit greedy to me and didn't seem too keen on selling the cabinet. He relisted it for the same high opening bid BTW. I am not going to bother with this guy, prolly better anyway! But if someone has a 10BP4 they can pop in that thing, they could have a nice little set.
I just can't justify spending 75 bucks plus shipping just for a cabinet. And as you all know, it would arrive all busted up and useless anyway!
