a working color maggie, with remote. I know of a few members in texas that may be interested in that set. Perhaps they will stumble upon this thread

You can jingle some keys in front of the remote sensor to see if its the remote or the receiver.

Pretty nasty lookin cataract

I just picked up a Magnavox console from the Love Field antique mall (for a whopping $25). Perfect cabinet and came with two remotes. These guys still used the Phantom "whistle" remotes. Shaking keys won't do a thing.

The whistles are still ultrasonic, but there's only two frequencies used. They're still susceptible to outside sounds. I remember one service call I made and the complaint was the set would turn itself on and off at random times during the day, sometimes several times an hour. I ran out of ideas and brought the set to the shop where it played for days without failure, but as soon as we took it back it was back to it's same old tricks. The problem turned out to be an electric clock with a fake pendulum on the wall above the set. When the pendulum went across in one direction it would squeak, and when the squeak hit the right frequency, kerchunk the remote stepped down the volume. This continued till it turned off the set, then in a little while it was back on. Oil the clock to fix the TV....The customer thought I was physic.....

I just put a bid in on the Maggie. Always wanted a Maggie combo. Don't know where the heck I will put it but I will manage.

Got some definite restoration work to do on her though...but hey, that's half the fun.

maggy console

I have several maggie consoles . I actually have the same combo unit as the one listed on ebay . I am in need of parts for mine . I would love to buy the maggie , however shipping to NJ would be pretty steep . I would like to buy all the guts out of it if possible . My cabinet is in excellent shape and has a better look i think . The maggy you got on ebay has some bad cataracs . I wrote the seller yesterday but he never responded yet . I have a love for these old maggie consoles . They had great stereos in them . However they are heavy , i hurt my back carrying one into my basement . I just got into restoring these sets , still kinda learning , but its fun .
