8TS30 score!

Found this one on eBay last night with only three hours to go, and it was local!

Picked it up this morning.

It looks pretty good, some minor veneer chips and a bad finish but otherwise very decent. It has a 10FP4 replacement CRT from CalVideo, haven't tested it yet but hoping for the best. I don't understand why there's an Ion trap on this aluminized tube but maybe whoever replaced it didn't know any better, or maybe it uses a bent gun??

The 8TS30 was the first vintage set I ever owned, I bought one around 1980 and sold it in 1997 but since regretted it, now I have another!

I like the looks too, it actually looks more like the prewar sets with the black grille and the deco-ish look.

Wonder if Vassos had a hand in the design?

Tested the CRT

Well, I guess it'll just have to do.

Actually it does show a small amount of G1 leakage but I'm pretty sure that's because it got a little damp riding home in the back of my truck in the rain.
