Its a floor radio from the 40s - nice, but unless electronically restored not worth 400 IMHO.

appraised at 900? That don't seem right. I talked with a local guy selling a philco predicta "princess" tv set from the late 50s for $1k. He said he had it professionally appraised at over 2300 dollars.... Those people probably don't even look at current market or auction value. I think they should all have their head examined.

Yep, it's from the '40's. I don't know who made it; but, most all of those '40's console radio / phonograph combinations are similar. Compared to other styles of radios, there's not that much interest. It might bring $40 from someone who really wanted it.

People often talk that "appraisal" crap just to fool some uninformed buyer into paying a big price for their item.

Well, DUH, it's a GE. That's what I get for not paying close attention. It looks like it has an "FM converter" that covers the old FM band installed. That would mean it's probably made between 1940-46.

The seller is a dreamer.

But the scary thing is their dream will probably come true.

I'm guessing not. He's got a decimal error in his asking price.
