Autovox Car-radio Ra 451
autovox is a trademark Italian radio for automobiles. this is a model of 60 years "all germanium transistors." it is very particular. has only 3 wavelength range, monaural. its particularity was that the two parties were separable to be adapted to any type of car. this was mounted on the NSU prinz of my mother. subdued the flood of 1966 of Florence.
I was restored and is fully functional in attach pdf format an similar model Last edited by firenzeprima; 03-10-2009 at 03:23 PM. |

i have this same radio!
Autovox car radios were unusual in many ways, i have some 70s Autovox Melody cassette car stereos and their mechanism is excellent and absolutely unique! you have to push the "joystick button" once to engage the tape, then move it left and right to rewind and fast forward, and then push it again to eject the tape... This is one of the very few mechanism that can be trusted not to chew your tapes even after 30 years and thousands of hours of use... the only thing they usually need to work like new is a belt and a drop of oil on the motor bearings and on the shaft of the brass idler pulley By the way, Were Autovox radio available in the US back then?

I remember an "Audiovox" here in the states from the late 60's to mid-70's. Probably not the same outfit though.

I only see the Medium Wave frequencies on the tuning knob. Where are the other
bands? |

you are right, this version has only a wavelength range while being prepared to commute the possibility, through the ring chromed knob on the line, 2 other positions. the model number to match the one shown in pdf files. I did not find any other documentation, not even on the site of autovox

The older, larger Melody "blue line" series had some fancy features on some top of the line models... some were able to record, others had a mechanical signal seeking feature driven by the cassette deck's motor... |
