Here's some of my radios.
Some of the radios I have in my collection.
Top: General Television (unknown model, cabinet is being redone) Bottom: Silvertone AM radio (missing knob, got one?) Top: Motorola AM/FM radio (still off in the FM band) Bottom: Zenith 7G04 (works nicely, but does go weird on the FM band at times) Left: Zenith AM/FM clock radio (uses the 17C9 tube, FM nonfunctional at this time) Right: Silvertone 9005 bakelite table radio (works like a dream) RCA Victor 34X tabletop radio (needs proper knobs, got this after graduating High School, one of my first antique radios)

I have the AM/FM version of that Silvertone in the top picture. I used to own the AM version like yours. Those were decent performers when working correctly.

that silvertone is a dang fine performer in my mind. Does great for nighttime AM DXing, and has killer sound. Did yours have a 35A5 installed in place of the 35L6? For some reason mine does, and it actually looks factory installed.

I think mine had a 35L6; but, I don't remember. I'm not surprised that yours uses a 35A5. Sometimes, companies would switch tube types in the middle of a production run. I guess they were either trying to use up remaining stock or they found that one tube type was slightly cheaper than the other.

Could be, the tube layout on mine shows it requiring a 35L6. the 35A5 is the only non-silvertone tube in the set.
