Let's Make A Deal (pilot) 1963 in colour
G'day all.
I've just stumbled across on YouTube the pilot episode of game show "Let's Make A Deal" from 25th May 1963 in living colour!!! It's so awesome to know this episode exists on 2 inch quad colour videotape!!! Anyways at the beginning of the program you'll see a TK-41 in the background as the host introduces the program, and here's the real highlight in the show, one of the prizes in one of the big boxes so happens to be an Admiral colour TV set which was won by Bill and Pattie Sharp at the price of $45!!!! ![]() Anyways below are the links to the show which is split into 4 parts: Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6wrWd9RbmI Part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7lP1bI84R4 Part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dRmc-qAD_8 Part 4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eiw7H5dtSUs Enjoy. ![]() Cheers Troy

As much as I enjoy TK41-sourced programs, I couldn't help but notice how DRAB the set and everyone's dress was. Everyone, men and women alike, wore subtle, bland garmants in navy, olive, beige, etc. The set was all shades of grey! Certainly shows the studio's black-and-white heritage!

Quote:
The zany costumes that would be synonymous with LMAD would appear soon after the show came on the air, and they were not part of a master plan. A few guests decided to wear cute ornaments in the hope they would get noticed and become contestants. They were, and soon TV audiences at home took note, and followed suit (no pun intended) if they came onto the show themselves. When the everyday audience started looking like every day was October 31, the producers considered imposing a dress code. They decided against it. Making the show a costume party got more attention from people surfing through the channels, and gave LMAD a more festive atmosphere. |

If "Let's Make A Deal" was ever broadcast in Australia, I would like to apologize personally.

I wouldn't know if it was broadcasted in Australia as it was way before I was born but most likely no, I came across the show by chance on YouTube. We had plenty of our own game shows over here back in the day, including a our version of Match Game entitled Blankety Blanks. Curious though, why do you want to apologize if it were broadcasted in Australia?

Only because that show was so insipid and low-brow.

Hey, Chris, some of us represent that remark
![]() Let's Make a Deal wasn't one of my favorites, but it was good for a laugh. For real entertainment there was The Gong Show...but then, they didn't give away color TV sets, did they?
