I have a CTC-11 in a black metal cabinet. If you unscrew the legs, it's a (very heavy) tabletop. I imagine there were others with black metal cabinets.

I remember my cousin in Kingsport, TN had a metal cased roundie when I was a kid...His was sort of a fugly olive-green color, & I THINK it sat up on legs. This was long enuff ago where color TV was a Big Deal. Seems like it had bad convergence or a gun was bad, I remember it was kinda greenish-purple when it showed a B&W picture.

Phil, I have the exactly same 11. I like the way it looks with the gold trim. Mine needs the 4 weird knobs under the channel selector.
Many roundies came in metal cabinets. You mentioned to me in a PM about it having a 1958 color tag hanging on it? If it was a '58 set, it would be a CTC7. However, I don't recall 7's having a black metal cabinet. CTC7's and 9's for the most part have the knobs on the side of the cabinet. I think their remote sets have knobs on the front. CTC10's and 11's have knobs on the front. I do not recall if CTC12 thru 16 had black metal cabinets. The best thing to do is pull the cover off the back and look at the chassis. It will tell you. If you already put it in storage without looking, well then, shame on you.

Ok it is similar to Phil's but has RCA Victor in cursive lightning bolt pattern under the screen on the outside of the glass. Unfortunately my love for these things has led to overcrowding so I sent it into storage until I get time off from work to give it a good going over.

Look thru this index.... there's photos of all the models up to CTC10
http://novia.net/~ereitan/Gallery/Ga...1-20-2006.html Each section will have an economy model. You might find yours. If you don't, it would be a later model.

Here is my black metal 11 that came from an older person's home who barely used it. It has its' original matching stand and is in mint condition with all lettering intact.
