RCA TK-41 ON WGN AMERICA and THE VIRGINIAN

Those fans of the RCA TK-41 take note that WGN America is airing a promo for their Cubs coverage with a great video tape of a TK-41 camera being used to cover a Cubs game years ago. Was surprised when I saw the promo today; was just in a regular commercial break so you'd have to tune in and just watch for it. Also at the end of the current episodes of The Virginian on Encore westerns they use the original ending from the mid 1960's showing a TK-41 coming into view with the old NBC logo from that era and text something like "Produced in color in association with the NBC Television network." I'd forgotten that was used at the end of their color shows back then. It's tagged on after the closing credits.

It is interesting the Virginian has the original NBC color ending. I don't get Encore but was wondering if this ending is the same one that is available here:

The music, film footage of a cameraman pushing a TK-41 and NBC snake animation (and, for that matter, the announcer - Fred Collins) were the same . . . but the script would have been as mentioned by 'bozey45'. Which I actually saw at the end of the very last episode of "That Was the Week That Was," from 1965, as at New York's Paley Center for Media.

This closing bumper, alas, would have only been used on The Virginian up to 1965; afterwards, a shorter ending bumper was used, through 1970 (which coincidentally, was the year The Virginian became The Men from Shiloh), as shown exactly here (well, maybe if you don't notice the color fading on the blue and green):

To John Hafer re: NBC Color tag

yes, same video just audio is different; states that it was "....produced in association with the NBC television network."

I have been watching the "Virginian" episodes for a while on Encore Western Channel. I was pleasantly surprised when the 1964 episodes aired with the NBC "Snake" logo appearing at the end. This following the Universal Studios logo. The color prints are gorgeous for a 45 year old series. The NBC "Snake" uncoils in my avatar as the TK-41 dollies through.
