E.H. Scott Radio Found Need info

I have a E.H Scott radio in my basment. It has a serial number c-484. the coucil is in rough shape. There are two tube things in the back, both are Chrome. I don't see a speaker. Sorry for the poor quality pics.
Any info would be awesome.
Thanks
P.S. I looked around and it looks like a Allwave 23 7 knob?

E. H. Scott radios, even in as rough a shape as this one is, are highly sought after and quite valuable. There are buyers who would be very interested in this radio if you don't want to have it restored and keep it. Please don't plug it in or try to operate it as this radio is over 70 years old and has a number of parts which at this age can quickly burn up and when they do, take out some other virtually irreplaceable parts, like the power transformer. The chassis needs to be gone over and these parts replaced by an expert. A good cabinet man can repair and restore the cabinet to its original finish.

If you Google "E. H. Scott" you will see what I mean.

You might also post your description and pictures over on Antique Radio Forums, Antique Radio Discussions section.

Those Scott radios are really something when they are up and running. I have a friend in Tennessee that has a big Scott radio that includes a built-in record cutter! It practically dims the lights when turned on, but has a clear clean sound.

I know for a fact that this Scott is NOT for sale at anytime.

I have 3 lesser Scotts, an RBO-3 ship's moral receiver from WW2, an SLRM that was essentially the civilian version, & an 800-B from '47, an AM/FM/SW set. If this one has good chrome, you're REALLY doin' great !

I agree with Reece. Do not use this radio until you replace, at very least, the electrolytic filter capacitors in the power supply. If you do not know what these are, have the set serviced by a qualified person. This radio is old enough (again as Reece noted) to have components that will fail on a moment's notice; when they fail, they can destroy other components such as the power transformer almost literally in the blink of an eye. Replacements for power transformers, to say nothing of other parts, in radios of this vintage may be difficult or impossible to find, so it behooves you to preserve the originals if possible.

The cabinet is in fair to poor shape, judging from your photos. The front will definitely need refinishing, as I can see markings on the panel -- the beginning of a radio station call sign, plus a couple of numbers. Restaining with Minwax or any other type of furniture refinishing agent of the original cabinet color will hide these marks and restore the front panel to its original good looks (E. H. Scott radios had very good-looking cabinets when new; yours will too, if you work at it). There are bits of veneer missing on the lower front of the cabinet as well, so a refinishing job is in order as well for that section. In fact, I'd have the entire cabinet refinished so that no imperfections are missed. The result will be a radio that looks as good as it did when it was new.

I have an EXCELLENT furniture refinisher about a mile from me...He's also fairly quick, & while not cheap, he don't "burn" you, either...

The knobs and dial match my 1936 23 tube all wave imperial. My amplifier section is different and my receiver section looks larger. Mine is in a Windsor cabinet. My serial number is L-631 and I have a service manual with it. If it would help I could scan the manual and e-mail it to you. PM me. I found mine in a closet of a Farmer's Union Co-op gas station in my home town of 1500 people; I was 13 years old and traded a 5 tube table radio for it. It had originally belonged to the brother of the station's manager and came to North Dakota when he died. It was a retirement gift to the original owner when he retired from the Scott company.

I found one other Scott at a Salvation Army store for a friend of mine in Minneapolis that radio was a 1941 model. When found it was missing the high frequency speakers. When we were cleaning it up we found a letter from the company to the original owner. The letter was an apology for the speakers being damaged in shipment and promising replacements ASAP. The letter was dated Saturday December 6, 1941; Pearl Harbor was attacked the next day and, apparently, he never did get his speakers.
