Anyone recognize this set ?
I'm guessing maybe a Sparton but the letting doesn't look quite right.

The problem, besides my not being able to read name, is the fact that while the glass, and, rounded corners look like Sparton, They don't usually have the other two controls on the front panel. All the sam's I have show a control panel door with controls behind it.
That is also the way my rectangular Sparton is. Tom, I ran into a major problem on family RCA that I have the long thread over at ARF on. I will post that in a few min. Could you please continue to help me? This has now totally killed the tv, and, I appear to have a one ohm short that wasn't there. I'll not rob this thread. Sorry, guys. Please visit my thread over there. Bill Cahill

The knob layout on some of these Canadian Sparton TVs looks very similar.

Too many x-rays from small picture tubes can make a person blind. :p

However, I would like to restore the set. I think that it is well worth it after over 50 years of trouble free service. These sets are like mini-Dumonts to me in the beefy way that they are built. I love sets with dual LV and HV (I think)rectifiers.... |

Mine is a sad case. It was brought to me from Kalamazoo Mi. 23 years ago by a friend... This set had been in a house fire.
One side of the cabinet, and, part of the molding on front, along with severely melted channel selector knob was severely charred. Why they even saved the set amazes me. The base of picture tube was off, and, wires broken. I brought power transformer up on variac, and, it was good, so, while sanding charr off case, and, fe finnishing, which they had also painted white, and, white paint was burned, I decided to re build chassis. I re capped it, new electrolytics, and, a couple of resistors, and, a good used picture tube. Set actuially played, had a picture, though very poor contrast. I put it aside for years. I now have lost back cover, and, memted knob. Other knob is good. I'd like to complete that set, and, finnish it. Geez/ Even the door for hv cage is missing. What a mess! Bill Cahill
