Musta fixed it because I don't see any sandbased reference now. That's a mighty big cabinet and a mighty big price for a mighty little radio.

There was a guy in San Antonio, Texas who used to take radios like that one and put transistorized chassis in them. I do not know where he got the transistorized chassis, but they looked very good from the front. Of course, he ruined the collector value.
He has since passed away, so is no doing it any more.
