That's the risk you take when using vintage electronics on all the original caps. If a piece of equipment is going to see regular use, the elecrolytics and filter caps must be replaced for it to work safely and reliably.

Come on guys... let's just drop it. At this point, it does not matter who was right or who was wrong. Just walk away from it.
Let's get back to what this was about... a Halolight in heat! Hopefully, this will be a lesson to anyone curious about our hobby... this is why we strongly recommend NOT trying to operate an old set that still has the original capacitors in it. Johnny was lucky that this didn't turn out a lot worse. I'd hate to find out that his house went up in flames as well.
