Rca 8t-244

Hi All;
I am starting to see if I can do more Damage to my RCA 8T-244 Set..
I have power it up Via a Variac, and it does the same as the last time I powered up this Set..
I plan on Replacing the four Electrolytic Caps first and then, I will work on the Vertical Section next, as it alternates between a full picture and about a one inch line on the screen, so I assume that something gets warm and the Vertical does not work for the most part, and after cooling it works for a little while and this is repeated over and over..
But, for as old as this set is, I am amazed that it gets anything on the screen..
THANK YOU Marty

I always enjoy working on a set that "works" than a dead set. I like replacing parts a few at a time, powering it up, and see how it improves in performance.

Good that you are starting with the electrolytics first. Safety first, as far as these old tvs are concerned.

I've seen these series of RCA tvs perform when restored, and they are surprisingly good performers.

Best of Luck,

Lee

Good luck, its nice to see one of these improve as you go along and recap.
I have an RCA model 8T241 and that must be the same chassis, I haven't had the nerve to power it up. I understand these sets were excellent in fringe areas.
Mine was a local set and there was not a local VHF station until mid-49, so they must have been pulling in from at least 60 miles away.
