Circa '55 Magnavox AM radio/45 rpm phonograph

I found this oddball Magnavox AM radio/45 rpm record changer at an estate sale and they originally wanted $42 for it; but, I talked them down to $32. The case covering is in good shape; but, the handle is missing. They had some more stuff I would have bought; but, the prices were out of control. They had an '80's Technics P-mount DD turntable, a mid '70's VM changer with a Tetrad cartridge in a stand-alone base, a Sony tabletop record player with a Garrard changer and Pickering magnetic cartridge, and a Concord R2R recorder - all for $65/each and unknown working condition. They also had some BPC Pioneer stereo equipment. I think they wanted $45 for the CD player and $65 for the receiver. I picked up four LP's of interest (2 ten inch Al Jolson LP's on Decca in fair shape, a Butterfield Blues Band LP, and I can't remember the other one); but, I lost interest when they told me $6-$8/each. When I told him that I didn't want them that bad, he didn't ask, "Well, what are they worth to you?".

I can remember when prices at estate sales were dirt cheap; but, now, everyone is an antiques expert and they expect to get internet prices on a local level. In some respects, I'm happy for the high prices because had that Magnavox been $5-$10, the buzzards would have bought it and it would have either ended up at the flea market or on ebay for an insane price.

That's an interesting combination.

The player looks like an RCA. Those knobs have the white funky stuff that comes off in the dishwasher.

Its all you needed at a party in the mid-50s, AM radio and 45 rom records.
