Did they actually use sub-mini tubes in their clock radios? From page 67:

I don't think that they did. Those would cost more than the usual AA5 miniature tubes.

Thanks Wayne,

As a collector of early Moto color sets, I treasure stuff like this. Thanks for the great quality scans.

How did you acquire this?

And if I might be so bold as to suggest; Perhaps a lot of people here have never seen or are they aware of you wonderful web site. May I suggest that you place a link to your home page in your VK signature block (like I have done) so that people who see your posts are aware of your web site.

The clock and AC-DC table radio used the regular miniture tube line up. The six tube sets, used a 35C5 and an additional 12BA6. The six tube sets were all hand wired, where some of the five tube sets were Pla-cir boards.
The portables, that had the oval speaker grill, used the sub-mini tubes for the osc-mixer, if amp and first audio-det functions. The output tube is a 3S4. It also used a Pla-cir board.
Some of the other portables were carry overs from earlier years.
