Another Zenith porthole
I couldn't pass up another porthole that was in such nice condition. It's a 12", model g-2957 combo. I swore I'd never buy a combo, because they're so big, but this one followed me home....

It's yer own fault, you should have been more stern and said to follow someone else.

I always thought those were so cool looking with the completely round screen. I had one once, which I stupidly sold on ebay and got nothing for, and some schmuck came all smug and carried it out. That was a mistake. Oh well, someday I'll have another! |

It makes number 4 in my zenith porthole collection. Usually the faux wood finish on the door fronts is flaking off, but they're nice in this one. I restored the 12" framers,so I've done this chassis before.

That day could come soon. This working one in Milwaukee has been on Craigslist & ebay for while: http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/atq/5193913741.html

Same set as mine, it's a beast but made well. The only hard part of restoring it is restringing the fine tuning. It's crammed in a tight spot and ridiculous to restring. They use a metal tube 12UP4 crt, so they're s 50/50 in getting a good one.
