ISO Flyback for 17” Predicta

Hi all, as the subject indicates, I’m in need of a flyback (new or used) for a 17” Predicta (10L4X chassis). The one in the set has an open set of windings, causing the resistor in the yoke socket to go up in smoke.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I really don’t want to ruin a replacement fly if there’s something wrong in the set. I’ve gone through and replaced the caps and out of spec resistors. The set makes a raster and gets audio and video. I’ve also replaced the damper and horizontal output tubes. I’m not sure where to look next...

Hmm. I don't see how you could get a raster if there are open windings in the flyback. What set did you measure as being open ?

Also what yoke resistor went up in smoke ? The 1000 ohm on pin 3 ?

Bob,

Yes, it’s the 1K resistor (R60 in the Philco diagram) in the yoke socket. The inner windings have a 21ohm section between pins 8 and X, center tapped at pin 7. I get continuity between pins 7 and 8, but open between 7 and X.

For perhaps better luck, you should be asking in the classifieds section.
