Craftsmen RC 200 resto

Hey all! I'm starting this thread midway in the restoration. This is my 1st TV restoration. Most of my experience has been with "repairs" back in the day and have restored quite a few radios. I have most of the recap done and am currently focusing on the sync separator section. I have powered it up between steps to check things, and at this time, my biggest concern/problem is very poor sync lock on both horizontal and vertical. I have some other issues on up the line, possibly in the tuner. I can inject a signal in the 6AU6 video amp and get a decent picture, but sync is terrible. So I am going through the sync and oscillator sections pretty carefully, replacing everything including micas. I have a weird and undocumented AGC, which I am tracing out trying to draw a schematic. This is some kind of mix between a RC 200 and 201.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for posting and welcome to VK!

I took the below pictures of what Riders has on your RC-200. Sometimes Sams tends to combine more than one model and in doing so makes things more confusing. It's possible you have a 200 chassis with a 201(2 tube) tuner. You can take a look and see if this Riders info closer matches what your set has. Also there is some instruction in the alignment section on removing the AGC tube and substituting a negative 3 volts on the AGC line. I believe that set has gated AGC so It would be interesting to see if doing that has any effect on your signals, both from the antenna input and direct video in. You should be able to click on the individual photos to zoom in.
