VT-71 Alignment Procedures

I have an early model Motorola VT-71, the one that has channel 1 and no fine tuning, and I'm finishing up the alignment of it. This is the first time I've aligned a TV so I'm learning as I'm going. The sound and IF alignment went well and the waveform for the latter look pretty good. But I have a couple of questions on the next steps so I'm looking for advice.

1. The manuals at earlytelevision.org (Riders, Sams, Motorola) say that the primary and secondary of the converter transformer should be adjusted simultaneously. Is that really true or can I just adjust them separately until the waveform and marker positions are correct?

2. I'll next need to adjust the oscillator, RF, and antenna coils to set-up the stations. The manuals at earlytelevision.org have different instructions for aligning these coils for the VT-71. Are the procedures interchangeable? Some of them involve disconnecting components and altering circuits and I'm looking for the simplest procedure that will do the job.

Many thanks.

Dave
