National TR-602EU, what did I get?

I just got my hands on this one, and I can't find any usefull information about it online.

It works perfectly and I was curious about the age, and if it's something special. Did I find a treasure, or just a nice looking paperweight

I could only find a reference to a National TR-602 which was a Panasonic product. The "eu" could be a reference to a set for the European PAL market. Any pics available?

There you go, sorry about the bad picture. I live in Finland, so it being a reference to PAL is probably exacly right.

And a little more info on the set. In the states, we have a company which publishes schematics for most every set ever made called Howard Sams...Sams for short. They also print a guidebook to find the issues. In the guide, a Panasonic TR-602 in the states is from 1974. Probably the same or very close.

Now you need to find a Finnish round-tube color set and we will all pass out.

So 1974 eh... hope I didn't pay too much overprice for it... 20 euros. Still it's in mint condition. I think I'm in love...shit.. I bought it as a birthday present for my girlfriend...

You got a very cute working 70's vintage TV-When I saw "National", I thought of the National Co. in Malden, Massachusetts of the legendary HRO shortwave receiver fame. They made TVs for awhile in the '40s & early '50s. Dunno if any of 'em made their way across The Big Pond. national is the name panasonic/matsushita uses in japan.
that set may have been meant for use in japan.
see if it says 100 vac instead of the typical 120
i have a national branded 7" tube set that runs on 100vac.
i cheated by replacing the 38he7 with a 58hk7 iirc.

Their TV channels probably do not match your country's TV channels. Some of Japan's TV channels are on frequencies that are used for FM broadcast radio in the USA (93 to 108MHz FM in USA TV in Japan, 88 to 92 are FM radio in both countries). Also Japan uses NTSC.

My college, Syracuse Univ, had "design" students (a form of art). I was an electrical engineering major (BSEE) and I used to annoy the design majors by telling that I was studying "design" too (in reality circuit design!). And I'd show them some of my designs (circuit schematics). "What the hell is that?!".... One thing was that my "designs" had to follow the laws of physics, but their designs could be anything they said was pretty....

IIRC Matsushita used the National name in Europe for longer than they did in the USA. I've seen turntables like the SL-1700 from Europe with a National logo next to the Technics name -- Foe

I notice instead of channel 13 its has *. The first time I've seen that. Perhaps a clue to the home market? If the model ends in EU I would say its right at home.
