Either a bedroom or hospital room accessory, I would guess - but certainly fairly early if it has color controls in addition to channel and volume. Pictures don't show all sides - I wonder if the remote functions are ultrasonic even though the speaker is wired?

Similiar to Other RCA remotes-for roundie??

VERY interesting remote!! I have several regular old color remotes waiting to get roundie tv to go with . This looks the same as mine except shape and wires w/ plug for built in speaker. Any ideas on model or possible chassis # used. Needs to be a model with a jack for this speaker plug. Hospitals use this type of remote. I guess can be used at home if wanted a personal speaker not to bug the wife while she's sleeping and had money for color tv in bedroom?? Is this for a roundie?? I'm guessing must be since almost the same as my remotes and has older RCA lightning bolt circle logo??

RCA remote

Soon an expert will tell us for certain. So, I'm going to guess about it...
It was made/sold before '68 because of the logo. I'll guess it is from '62 up but it would not surprise me if it was from like '58 up. I think it was only available to hospitals, etc. and not to the general public. I think it is only a plastic box to hold switches and speaker. Lastly, I bet that speaker wire was added and it originally had a white thick cable for all the wires to the set and probably plugged into the wall to get to the set. Probably from some place where sick, rich people got pampered. Most hospitals back then probably did not have color.
I'm going to ask the seller where they got it from.

I'm going to second your guess - a home pillow speaker would not have rocker controls like that, intended to go under the pillow, while hospital unit is intended to go next to you. And the hole looks big enough for a multi-wire cable.

It was for hospital televisions. was wired not ultrasonic, someone has removed the multi-conductor cord and plug and replaced it with the 2 wire cord. I have a CTC28 set that uses that one.
