Talking

Boy. Nice tv and stand. Wish I could afford it. I collect sets with stands like that. Anybody want to work out a trade with me? Neat toy.........

I have two of these with stands. One is almost as good of shape as this one and the other needs some cabinet veneer and finish work on the lower sides. The funny thing is i stumbled across these locally for where vintage tv's are seldom seen anymore. Definately nice looking sets but was surprised with how weakly the stands appear and to hold up such a heavy tv. Needless to say their reinforced well.

Wow! No bids?? I have a love/hate relationship with a VERY similar 8T-243 that I ran across. I had wanted a roundie again since I gave away my too heavy DuMont RA-109A. The RCA was all I could find local. I have always thought it was ugly. I dont like round crt sets with a rectangular mask. Now the set on Ebay seems to be identical to mine in structure but a lot prettier. The front finish is a BIG improvement and the easy service lid (great idea) has louvers cut into it. My 243 has no louvers and a kind of grill on the front. Very plain, almost military looking. I also ran across what I think is a much more beautiful set, an RCA TC-127 floor model w/doors. This set is the one to restore I think. I may have to rob the power transformer from the 243. Thats another long story. Hate to butcher the almost working, older 8T-243. because I planned on selling it. The 127 is just too slick to not bring up to snuff...Maybe I can find a transformer.
