Thomas Television?
I contacted someone on Craigslist that has an antique television for sale for some more information. They told me it is a Thomas model 19RT and it dates from the 1950s. Has anybody heard of a Thomas brand TV? I can find nothing on the internet about it. Thanks.

Nope-Could be a private-label brand from the early days.

Hate to bust the bubble, but the Thomas 19RT is a 19" remote color set from the mid 90s. Funai-built chassis. Thomas is the same firm that builds all those reproduction antique radios. They made some repro TV sets too, including this one.

Thanks Charles. I was wondering that. I knew that Thomas made repro radios but I didn't know if they made repro TVs also.

I didn't know there was a new vintage repro TV
Once again Charles has helped us out!
It is madening to me to imagine someone spending their hard earned money for something special only to find out they were lied to and left to feel like a fool must feel. On the Dr. Phil show yesterday he revealed an 800 # that proported to allow people in need to pay like $800. to speak directly to his wife Robin or to Dr. Phil also for a package deal price of like $1500. to help those most in need of counseling etc. Thanks Charles! |

Does anyone have a picture of one of these Thomas TVs that they could post? I've never seen one.

I think I saw one in the Spiegel Catalogue, or some place like that. I just did a quick Google search for pics, but nothing.
The one I recall wasn't anything spectacular. It just had a wood-looking box with knobs. Thomas also had non-retro TVs, so that model number could be one of those. I had a Thomas stereo, which originally had a 13" color TV with it in the 80s. It wasn 't retro-styled. Reason I guess that this one might be retro is that the seller said it looked 50s. No listing for any of them in Sams. Charles

I went by the sale where the TV is. It turned out being a 1970s vintage color set. It was indeed '70s vintage and not a repro as it had both the VHF channelized tuner and a UHF continuous tuner. It was being sold by a couple and the woman said it was her grandmother's. She thought it was from the '70s and her husband guessed it at the '50s. He must have been the one to answer my email.
