New projects: Bush TV22 and Philips TX500
Hello,
on christmas day, a friend of mine, tv collector, visited me and donated a tv set wrack to me. I took it first and thought that I would exchange it for other tv spare parts. It is a Dutch Philips TX500 with a broken crt: http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold...g/tx500_01.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold...g/tx500_03.jpg http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold...g/tx500_04.jpg But later I realized that this is one of the first 625 line tv sets and I decided to keep and restore it. Meanwhile I have got a new crt with god emission and a missing four channel tuner for it. Another tv set I got in the last year was a British one, Bush TV22. The bakelite housing is in mint condition but the chassis looks bad: http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold...ovisorisch.JPG The crt is absolutely bad, with no emission (measured with a crt meter). Today I have fired up the set and I got a small raster. It was only visible in an absolutely darken room: http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold...firstLight.jpg The crt is a MW22-16. Does somebody know whether I can replace the crt with an American tube, perhaps a 12" crt? Eckhard |

The 405 Alive website has a lot of information about 405-line British television: http://www.bvws.org.uk/405alive/ Phil Nelson |

British sets
There are some websites of British TV set collectors. Maybe if you contact some of these collectors, one of them may have the CRT you need, or know someone in Great Britain who rebuilds those CRTs.

Meanwhile I have got a spare crt from the Netherlands with good emission. I have replaced the old crt. With the support of Darius (oldeurope) I got the set in working condition:

The lowe set looks like a small building. That is wild that they made a set like that. How Neat. Is it a rare set? How many did they make? |

Loewe was one smart dude. Way ahead of his time. Compactrons and modules in 1936. Is there a picture of the chassis on your site? BTW-The picture on your bush tv22 is bright and clear. Great job. Ed |

Ed: I have made the photos of the four prewar sets in the technology museum in our capital. I had not the possibility to open the sets and to take photos from the insight. But in case of the Loewe set I have found some photos from the chassis, the tubes and the modules in a book about early television. I will create a web page about this set soon and will post the link here.
Perhaps Steve McVoy knows someone who owns such a set? Eckhard |

http://bs.cyty.com/menschen/e-etzold.../bush/tv22.htm It is written in English because it is easier for me to write it first in English and then to translate it into German than vice versa. Note that this is a draft. If you have improvements or corrections please send me a private email. If there is enough interest, I would take oscillograms from the critical circuits and place them on the page. Eckhard |

sorry, I did a mix-up of the web pages. The web page about the Loewe prewar set will follow - in English too. Stay tuned. Eckhard |
