Still have Phono Output probs...

All,
As you may recall, I have been having issues with the phonograph output of my Stewart-Warner 11-6V. Thinking that it may be due to a bad cartridge, I purchased a new one (EV-68), and installed. While it does sound cleaner I still have to have the volume WIDE open to get sound out of it, and even then it is nowhere near loud.
I guess the next step would be replace the AF tubes ? I don't have a tube tester, so Im kinda out of luck there...

Thanks !
Steve

If this is a new old stock crystal cartridge it may be bad as well.
If the radio plays OK the phono should too as they use the same amplifier stages.
I would double check the phono input to the radio with a portable CD player/cassette player etc.
You may need to retrofit the tone arm slightly and install a newer type ceramic cartridge.
