1964 color tv ads

Interesting blog featuring color tv ads from TV Guide's 1964 "Set Buyers Guide."

Better Living Through Television: Color TV: When and What was Yours?

Anyone have this Sept.'63 issue of TV Guide?

1964 and 1965

I have both issues of the tv buyers guide from both 64 and 65 one of the articles in the 65 issue is whether to buy color now or wait. I will scan those pages and post them.

Thanks for the link Steve. Wow does that bring back some memories. I remember well when the first family in our community got a color set - it was such a big deal I think the pastor mentioned it in church one Sunday night. After the services about half the congregation (25-30 people) accepted the "invitation" and went over to the neighbors house to watch Bonanza. I don't remember the episode but I do remember being surprised that Little Joe's jacket was green. This was probably sometime in 1963.

My dad was never one to jump on the band wagon to early when new technology came along - we got our first color set in 1976 (my senior year in highschool). The only reason we got one then was because he & my uncle owned the furniture store that it came from.
