I dont think the CRT adapter was anything special, pretty sure we replaced it once with a plain adapter. You could make a crude jig with a early SS set with a 30kv tube. Just use the ends of the yoke windings. Size may be way off so if you are working on a size prob. mark the screen & look for the change you want. Also be sure you are not stressing anything. If you do a SS set be EXTRA careful !! Another thing we often did was use a big rectangle roll cart. Straddle the set so there is a few feet behind it for the chassis. Make or buy extenders, remember you only need CRT, yoke, HV & a damn good ground. We also had two other carts with a scope, analyst & power-rites. Made for very easy & fast repairs..........
