Anyone need a Zenith "Owl" 500x radio or two??
This guy's auction should fit the bill nicely
![]() !!http://www.ebay.com/itm/98-Zenith-Ro...item1c4592e55d There's a pretty good chance you could make a working & restored one out of the bunch (LOL). At what point is a collection considered to be "hoarding" or beyond that term?? Tom (PK) Last edited by powerking; 09-27-2014 at 11:06 AM. |

I have not purchased any of the Royal 500's yet right now I am hooked on the Universals. I am curious do these 500 have their transistors in sockets like the SS Trans-Oceanic's ?

Well, my 500B Owl radio (circa 1957 definitely uses transistor sockets; printed circuit board construction). This might have been near the end of Zenith using sockets VS hard soldering them in; at least in this model series.
